Wish List: Miriam

Alright, I've finally got my act together for my first post. Copying both Allie and Caroline, I've created my Christmas/Chanukah/Birthday Wish list. (We'll see if I actually get any of it, as I've already used the "for my birthday" excuse on countless Black Friday purchases.)

1. Stephanie and I bonded over our shared love for penny loafers, and I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair. These leather Bass ones I spotted at Nordstrom are exactly what I've been looking for.

2. Although not an avid perfume-wearer, I love this one by Coach. It's the perfect balance between sweet and not-too-sweet, something I could see myself wearing everyday.

3. I've been wanting a pair of these for a while, and I think winter is the perfect time for me to finally take the plunge. These sweats are great to wear around the house, but can also be dressed up enough for school. (Maybe I'll wear them with my new loafers..) Most don't have as tapered of an ankle as I'd like, but finally this pair by JCrew is just right.

4. So I have a confession: I'm an addict. Put me in Sephora and I can literally spend hours and hours and hours. NARS is probably my most guilty pleasure, so of course when the Sephora catalogue came in the mail, my eyes immediately went to this new cheek palette. Perhaps not the most practical purchase, but... I still want it.
5. Lastly, to know me is to know my one true love: Aritzia. Put me in that store and I am like a child in a candy shop, I want absolutely everything. Gift cards anyone?

Wish List: Allie

Following in Caroline's footsteps, I'm going to share my holiday wish list for this year. Wintertime is always my favorite because it means a few things: Christmas (my second favorite holiday, haha), my birthday (my first favorite holiday), and mostof all, presents! Here are some of the things that I'm lusting after this year.

1. Ever since I stopped biting my nails, I've been trying to keep them painted so I don't get tempted. I'm OBSESSED with Chanel nail polish. It's like a party on your nails. My favorite color is Peridot. Although, I wouldn't say no to Black Pearl, Particuliere, Mimosa, Vendetta or Rose Exuberant either!

2. Next on my list are these Pamela Love earrings. They are weird and non-descript (in a super shiny awesome way) enough to wear for every day, but still special enough to wear at night.

3. I'm also with Caroline on that shearling lined slippers are a holiday must. I've been trying to find ones that I'm okay with wearing out of the house so I don'tlook like a hobo and I settled on either these ones from Madewell (right) or these ones I found on Net-a-Porter (left).

4. Last, but definitely not least, is the bag that I've been pining over for the last million years (and by million I mean since seventh grade). The crown jewel of my wish list, this Proenza bag is perfectly perfect in every way. Basically I'm in love. With a purse. I've decided on classic navy leather, although I was tempted by a raspberry suede one for a while. Maybe I'll get it when I turn 21? A girl can dream.

UNHATE Campaign

I think we've all seen Benetton's UNHATE campaign pics, now let's watch the film.

Check out http://unhate.benetton.com/, for more info on what the Unhate Foundation is doing to promote acceptance, and squash hatred.

And in closing, I think this campaign is fantastic. Stop hatin', homie.

Wish List: Caroline

The holidays are fast approaching, and with that comes the always-fun wish list. Often times, my list can reach the hundreds, but I'll spare you and only show the most critical.

1. It's never the holidays without some fairisle. Or some Free People.

This chunky-knit sweater is practically begging me to buy some hot chocolate and go ice skating.

2. Your fingernails can't be naked while fighting the cold weather. RGB has some of the chicest nail polish I have ever laid eyes on.

Now my only problem is deciding if I want Crimson or Deep. But it is a wish list, so why not both? I think you might have to check out all the colors for yourself.

3. And finally, no list is a list without J. Crew. And this brings up the great boot debate. Will it be the hippie-meets-downtown girl Minnetonka and J. Crew exclusive shearling-lined booties or the practical-but-classic Sorels?

So, have you started putting together your wish lists? Because if not, I'd say it's about time to start. The holidays are all about receiving, right? Just kidding! Buy some boots for your bestie, too!

I'm Going to Miss...

Wearing cropped pants and no socks. I've thought about just pretending it's still fall in the winter, but that's probably not the best idea. My mom says I'm going to get arthritis in my ankles, and I believe her. So, uh, I need to figure out how to stay on top of my game in the winter (don't hate me for saying "on top of my game," this is just super critical). While perusing fashion blogs, I came across this on Hypebeast:

I think it's the answer to my problem. Just wear socks, nice socks. Can't be bogus. So, that is what I'll do on those wintry Chicago days. I'll probably look like I got lost on my way to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, but that's fine. I love chocolate.

Dose Market

Dose Market is hip. Dose Market is stylish. Dose Market is tasty. Dose Market is it.

Once a month, Chicago’s most creative minds convene at the River East Arts Center to share in the latest trends in food and fashion. Welcoming about 45 vendors a month, the public is invited to see what’s new in Chicago. Curated by four fashion forward women, Dose is the place to be seen.

My first Dose experience was on October 16th, and it was absolutely amazing. Walking into the River East Arts Center, you are able to peer over the railing and get a glimpse of all of the excitement on the floor. Walking down the stairs, I gladly received an immediate sensory overload. I was not sure whether I should stop to take pictures of the dapper young men that were shopping around, or indulge in a sticky bun from Floriole.

I was even more thrilled to run into Klayton Korver from Seer Outfitters which was the Dose Cause of the month. All proceeds from the Seer Outfitters clothing line go to fund projects through the Kyle Korver Foundation. Cute clothes for a great cause, the perfect excuse to shop.

Stephanie in her shirt from Seer Outfitters
Caroline spent much of her time gawking at vintage clothes. Story of her life.

And we both fell in love with these handmade shoes from Sir & Madame. They're signed by the people that made them!! (We think that's really cool.)

Our favorite designs were probably from the Chicago born, New York City based designer Samantha Sleeper (those are her designs in the background of this blog). This dress almost made us die.

To sum it all up, Dose Market is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon; who wouldn't love to rub elbows with Chicago’s food and fashion elite?! A germaphobe. But we are not germaphobes, and we love rubbing elbows with people. Be sure to find us at the next Dose on December 4th, can’t wait to see you there!
