Chicago Streetstyle Vol.1

Editor's note: The ladies of all worn out are excited to welcome Montana Fredrick to our team. She is a good friend of ours, and she is known on the streets for her eccentric style and personality. This girl da bomb, and we couldn't be happier to have her with us. Make sure to check back for most posts from Montana, enjoy!

As all of us Chicagoan's know that last week was truly a gift from the heavens. However, 75 degrees for a straight week and a half ultimately served as non other than a tease. Sadly the fun in the sun has ended, good thing we've got this weekly streetstyle roundup to cheer us up! Although I have not encountered the occasional celebrity or blogger extraordinaire while combing the streets, I have snapped a few interesting folk who could probably teach us a thing or two about dressing in the Windy City.

P.S. The last five shots are from November's after Thanksgiving sales, but I thought they still deserved an introduction to the world ;)

Cheers!

Mixin' It Up

I think it's safe to say that spring is finally upon us. Wooooooo! Break out the shorts, and sunglasses. It's time for us to spend our days in the sun, and nights having fun. Well, I guess that time is really summer, but spring will do for now. And what a spring it will be! It's time to mix it up!

Spring is a time of renewal, rebirth, and all things wonderful. Translated: Spring is a time of new clothes, snazzy shoes, and all things bright and wonderful. Bright colors, and prints are in this season, and I have to say, I am loving it. Check out these looks from J. Crew's Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

When mixing prints, find a common color, like the navy in the first look, and have at it. If you're daring, go ahead and wear all bright colors; wear colors in the same family, like red and pink, and accessories in complimentary colors, like blue (art 1, anyone?). Like a smart look? Opt for a maxi skirt in an exciting color, with a nautical tee. And the final look sticks with colors in the same family all the while mixing prints, and keeps it interesting with red shoes and sunglasses.

And boys, I didn't forget about you. Some starting points from J.Crew.

Shirt, and jacket from J. Crew

If you haven't already, hop on that chambray bandwagon; it will easily become one of your go-to shirts for spring. And a lightweight jacket is must for the cool mornings spent waiting for CTA trains that never come. The one in this photo will put you out about 220 bucks, but lucky you, I have a secret: lightweight jackets can easily be thrifted. I just picked up a similar one in navy for a dollar and forty five cents, can you say deal?! I'm sure you can.

Fashion Month Round Up: Part 1

I had intentions of posting collections/street style reviews after each fashion week (New York, London, Milan, and Paris), but life (and senioritis) caught up with me. So now, you will be subjected to the longest post of all time, seeing as I'm reviewing fashion month as a whole. In this post, I'll cover my favorite collections from f/w and in the next one I'll cover my favorite street style. Fall/winter 2012 left me with few surprises in New York, but a few new faves from over the pond and a new favorite designer (I could write for pages and pages and pages about how much I'm loving Carven right now and how much I love the fact that Guillaume Henry based his whole collection around a Hieronymus Bosch triptych that I just saw at the Prado over winter break, but I'll save that for another post). Let's get to what we should be wearing come September 2012...

New York:
NYFW is home to some of my all time favorites and this season they didn't disappoint.

Proenza Schouler (all collection photos via style.com)
This collection was soooo good, so stylish, and so mature without losing the essential of what makes Proenza cool. Case in point, the outerwear. That amazing, luxe take on the varsity jacket (top left) needs to be in my closet now.... or at least by next winter. Their version of the moto jacket (top right) (quilted!) and the tweed jacket (bottom left) are equally as cool. Also I would trade my left hand for this new PS 11 clutch for spring, on a semi-related note.

See more after the jump.....
