Best Dressed: Golden Globes 2014

Happy New Year, everybody! The great thing about the start of the new year is that we jump right into awards season. Which also means we jump into red carpet season and get to see all of the celebrities we detest look awful our favorite celebs get all dolled up. The Golden Globes are fun because they're important, but they're not the Oscars. This awards show is like the primer; people are gonna show out, but once the Oscars roll around, they're gonna pop out. Ya feel me?  I'm not in the business of crapping on people's lives, so this will be my short list of the best dressed gals of Hollywood.

Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren. This was Lupita's first Golden Globes appearance (and definitely not her last based off of her performance in 12 Years a Slave) and she looked like the spotlight is definitely where she belongs. This look is pretty trendy right now, yet her choice to go without any eye-catching jewelry and make-up that only enhances her natural beauty, keeps the look clean and classic. Definitely my favorite look of the night.

Amy Adams in Valentino. Let's be real, Valentino red always kills on the red carpet. Her look is simple and screams, "I'll cooly glide onto the stage when American Hustle wins picture of the year."

Olivia Wilde in Gucci. I can totally see someone saying that she looks like a character out of Marvel's next comic book, but I think this shade of green is my absolute favorite. I actually don't know who homegirl is and I'm going to venture to say that she is pregnant and doesn't just have a huge stomach and tiny arms. With that being said, I appreciate the silhouette. It's more flattering than the typical pregnant, billowy dresses.

Allison Williams. Because she's in "Girls." Oh, and because she looks absolutely statuesque.

Elisabeth Moss in J. Mendel. This is one of those dresses where at first I was like, "da fuq," but then once I looked at it more and saw how intricate it is, I totally fell for it.

Emilia Clark in Proenza Schouler. It's Proenza Schouler -- enough said.

Margot Robbie in Gucci. This dress is just the perfect mix of classy and sexy.

Michelle Dockery in Oscar de la Renta. I'm a sucker for Oscar de la Renta. It's such an innocent yet sophisticated look.

Kelly Osbourne in Escada. I'll just say it: I'm not a huge Kelly Osbourne fan and I think she often looks childish, on and off the red carpet (whoops, just crapped on her life). However, this look is working. She looks grown up in this nearly plain black dress with her hair pushed off her face. It's just working.

Rashida Jones. If you've ever seen Parks & Rec, then you know that Rashida Jones is hilarious. I feel like her dress is the manifestation of her humor -- it's fun.

Zosia Mamet in Reem Acra. Because she is also in "Girls." She, like Allison Williams, went with a classic color combo. Everything is super flattering. She looks great.

Kaley Cuoco. This dress looks like she straight ripped a canvas off the wall and got someone to make it into a sick dress. I was also on the fence about this dress, then I realized that it's unlike anything else that went down the red carpet tonight. The paleness of the dress somehow compliments her skin. I don't get it, but I dig it.
