NYFW & Thom Browne

New York Fashion Week is ovahhh. And London Fashion Week is ovahhh. The trends for Spring/Summer 2014 have been set and I've had a few days to reflect. For the most part, designers showcased their ready-to-wear lines, which are exactly as they sound -- things that you and I could wear freely without feeling like we're walking down a runway in Milan. And oh yeah, make sure to hold on to all those crop tops you bought specifically for Lollapalooza and hot basement parties, they'll still be "in" come the new year.

While everyone was busy designing clothes for the everyday woman, I bet Thom Browne was sitting in his studio like, "The everyday woman is a bit deranged. So, she should look a bit deranged." From that totally made up, yet totally plausible thought process comes Thom Browne's Spring/Summer 2014 collection.

Here's what the man himself had to say about his, errr, different methods regarding presentation (via Complex):
'"Yes, it definitely is attached to tailoring but it’s also attached to so much more. I love the idea of things being strict and things being uniform," Browne said. "That’s the reason why I surround each collection with humor or irony. I want to make sure that it’s not too serious and that there is some element that throws it off because otherwise that would make it really boring. There’s always a story that’s somewhat fantastical. I think it makes the uniformity of it all far more interesting."'

I was seeing bits and pieces of this collection on Instagram. Like, this...

Naturally, I didn't really know what to think. Then, I saw the clothes and all was right with the world. I mean, the picture above is pretty symbolic of the collection, but the clothes are so beautiful. Like, he tailored the shit out of these garments. They are structurally superior to almost anything else that came out during NYFW. Everything about this show was cohesive. The colors, the make-up, the hair you felt like you were looking at something that was intentionally put together.

Also, shout out to Thom Browne for putting a diverse group of models on the runway. It's still rare to see women of color in fashion.

That was the final look. Like, damn. This look is just everything. My friend, Casey, posted a picture of it on my wall, to which I responded, "I want to get married in that dress." That's real spit. If/when I have a wedding, it will be an event. Like, a thing. Keep that in mind, y'all better be all dressed to up to see me tie the knot.

Here's a picture of Thom Browne, the guy with the wild mind, to close this out. He usually looks quite happy in pictures, but this one is just so perfect considering the theme of the collection:
