Looking Forward to Spring

I know it's only the end of January, but in my head, it's already spring. I can finally enjoy all the stuff that I like to do but haven't had time to for the past three years, being a second semester senior and all. With so many things to look ahead to, I figured I'd share a few bits of wardrobe inspiration to match. This spring, I'm definitely planning on going a little girlier than usual, with all the pastels and florals that have been on the runways from resort '12 and s/s 2012 onward. That for me still means button downs and man loafers, just in pretty colors and new patterns! I think these photos from Vanessa Jackman really sum it up.

Here's a collage I made of some of the clothes that are on my (dream) spring wish-list, pastels and all. Also, don't forget to follow us on twitter @all_worn_out!

I Need a Job.

If I had a job, these would be some of the first things I'd buy. Take a gander.

Numero uno: Deluxe Laptop Daypack-Backpack by Duluth Pack. This bag is made in the US and guaranteed for life. I'm feeling it. It's 190 bucks, but it's definitely worth it. I'm already low-key saving to get this bag for next school year. You can never have enough nice backpacks.

Numero dos: Tretorn canvas shoes. I'm all for a fresh pair of white Chuck Taylors, but my pair is all worn out (hehe) and I'm ready to try something new. Tretorn is something new. Switching it up now and then is always a good way to keep things fresh. These are not badly priced 70 dollars. Watch my feet, I'm hoping to get these by the time it gets truly warm in Chicago (so, in between now and never).

Numero tres: Gant by Michael Bastian mended U-neck sweater. I straight up love what Michael Bastian designs for men, and I straight up love what Gant designs for men. Put the two together, and make these designs for women, and I'm in love. You can't see them in this pic, but there are elbow patches on this sweater. I love elbow patches. I love this sweater. It's on sale for 79 dollars, down from 200. Sounds like a deal to me.

Numero cuatro: Miansai rope bracelet. I think this would be a nice addition to my wrist. The nautical feel and gold accents are on point. So on point that this bracelet will put you out 68 dollars. I can't mess with this one now, but once it's on sale, I'm DTB (down to buy).

So, this is my (un)official job application to all of the potential employers out there in web-land. Hit me up on twitter @all_worn_out. I'm unemployed and ready to get paid.

spring ads.

So it's been a while since I last blogged. (Before christmas if we want to be exact...) For me, I get really hyped on winter fashion for about five minutes--stocking up on scarves and oversized sweaters, begging for that camel pea coat, putting on my warm smartwool socks--before I become completely and utterly over it. That's where I am now. I'm tired of trudging through the slush and hibernating in my house. So I'll leave it to my fellow bloggers to satisfy your winter needs, while I move on to bigger and better things... just kidding, kind of.

I'm an avid magazine reader; I love Allure, Instyle, Vogue, Marie Claire, Nylon, and Elle, to name a few. Most people find the fifty pages of advertisements in the beginning of the magazine annoying, but on the contrary, I weirdly love pouring over the ads. Each designer's ad is like their own piece of art, reflecting what they hope you'll take away from their newest collection. (That, and just trying to sell the hell out of it.) Anyways, I'm blogging here to show you some of my favorite new spring ads, including some of my all time favorite models. Karlie Kloss anyone?

Liisa Winkler for Longchamp

Maud Welzen, Zuzanna Bijoch, Bette Franke, and Fei Fei Sun for Valentino

Lindsay Wixson and Frida Gustavsson for Mulberry

Kasia Struss for Moschino

Jac Jagaciak, Josh Beech, Ruby Aldridge, Benjamin Eidem, Lindsay Wixson for Just Cavalli

Francesco Scianna, Filippo Nigro, Primo Reggiani, Beppe Fiorello, Thomas Trabacchi, and Chiara Francini for Dolce and Gabbana

Bianca Balti for Dolce and Gabbana

Joan Smalls for Chanel

And now (COULD NOT BE MORE OBSESSED), Karlie Kloss for Free People:

Pajama Party

I don't know about your friends, but my friends certainly don't wear cute pajamas at sleepover parties (sweatpants and t-shirts are normally the go-to apparel). Luckily for us, pajamas have recently received a makeover! ...but they're not meant to be worn to bed...
In some of the Spring 2012 fashions shows, designers like Vena Cava and Alexander Wang featured sleepwear-inspired clothing. Finally, these pajama-inspired shirts are hitting the shops.

Rag & Bone sells the perfect one, but you'd really have to break open the piggy bank for one of these.

Silk with contrasting piping - the quintessential PJ blouse. H&M also offers a cute, less-bedtime-more-downtown shirt.

And finally, J. Crew's contribution - a quirky take with polka dots that feels a bit more menswear-inspired.

Now you can step-up your sleepover style and hit the streets! But let’s leave the sweatpants for the pillow fights.

Past Loves and Current Crushes

I think we all know how hard it is to get rid of a well worn pair of jeans or shoes. I have a tendency to become oddly attached to my clothing items, I never want to throw anything away. I look at the holes, stains, and rips as stories, memories. Well worn clothes are like diaries for the world to see.

Let's take a look at a pair of desert boots I got for Christmas in 2010. The suede is gross, the upper part is dyed blue from my jeans, and there are holes in the soles. I loved these shoes, and wore them just about everyday. My mom tried to throw them away numerous times, and I threw a fit.

I eventually agreed with my mom, it was time for these to go. And, yesterday, I tossed them in the garbage, along with a pair of plaid flannel pants....

I initially wanted a pair of leather desert boots, but I got a suede pair for 50 bucks. I got mine at the Clarks Outlet, and my friend got the leather ones for 24 bucks at Nordstrom Rack. Discount stores for the win. Let's take a look at my fresh kicks.

Just like anything else in life, you have to make hard decisions, and sometimes you have to let go. And, yesterday was my time to do so. I love my new shoes, the fit at the ankle is better than my worn out pair. I'm hardcore crushing on these shoes. And that's all because I let go of my past love.

Ha. I just got all romantic and stuff.
